This is the spiritual point of origin for Book II and the bridge between Labyrinth of Shadows and Cauldron of Dagda — both a physical sanctuary and a supernatural mechanism of rebirth.

Book I, Book II, Book III
Novel Canon Role:
The grove is where the people of Septimania gather for Samhain, where Mairead oversees rites at the stone altar, and where Merona's arrival changes the direction of the community. It remains a place of teaching, protection, and return across Book I.
Book II:
The Book II journey begins here at Samhain, 540 AD. Mairead and the circle of witches call for Merona as the veil thins; Merona emerges from the labyrinth carrying the Cauldron of Dagda, returning to a landscape altered by decades of settlement and political change. Mairead's ritual reaches through the veil, and the company accepts the mission to confront the darkness threatening Francia and the lands beyond it.
Book III:
Merona returns again on Samhain, emerging from the Maze of Eternities carrying both the Cauldron of Dagda and the Spear of Lugh, only to learn that Murdach and Mairead have succumbed to plague. The grove closes the circle of the series' central loop — the place where it began becomes the place where Merona's final, hardest chapter begins.
