This is an original fictional character with no historical individual behind him. His fictional future rebirth is specifically layered onto a real historical figure: Heinrich Kramer (also known as Institoris), a real Dominican inquisitor and the primary author of the real 1486 Malleus Maleficarum, did exist as a documented historical person — but no claim is made, nor should any be inferred, that a real 6th-century 'Valerius' preceded him or that reincarnation is a documented historical phenomenon. The connection is a fictional narrative device unique to this series, not a claim about Kramer's actual origins.
